Code of conduct for Parents and Carers

Children and young people are involved in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.

Turn defeat into victory by helping your child work towards skill improvement and a positive
sporting attitude.

No photography or video recording is permitted at matches or training without the prior consent of the Event organisers. Permission for coaching and educational purposes only, must be obtained before the match and a sticker obtained. Flash photography is not permitted. Such photography and/or video recording may only be posted on closed social media forums.

Remember children develop differently, at different rates and react differently to the same pressure.

Never ridicule or shout at your child or any other player for making a mistake

Encourage your child and the team to play by the rules and to respect other players and officials.

Recognise the value and importance of coaches and assistants. They give their time and resources or provide guidance for your child. All of our coaches are willing to give feedback ifrequested.

Support all efforts to remove verbal andphysical abuse from children’s sporting activities.

Emphasise enjoyment and fun. Praise and reinforce effort and improvement in the whole team.

Ensure your child arrives on time, ready to participate andtimely arrangements are made for the collection of your child. All children are to be accompanied into and out of the sportshall by a parent/carer.

Ensure your child’s kit is well maintained and they wear appropriate clothing with hair tied back, short nails and no jewellery.

Alert coaches to any medical conditions your child may have that might effect their participation in sport.
Spectators:

Remember children at play are not professional entertainers.

No photography or video recording is permitted at matches or training without the prior consent of the Event organisers. Permission for coaching and educational purposes only, must be obtained before the match and a sticker obtained. Flash photography is not permitted. Such photography and/or video recording may only be posted on closed social media forums

Children play organised sport for their own fun, they are not there to entertain you and they are not miniature adults or professional athletes.

Teach your child that effort and teamwork are as important as victory so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.

Remember that the coach or manager may decide to play players out of position and that there will be time when players will not be on court.

Allow the coach or manager to provide advice during match breaks and before and after matches. Do not confuse the team by offering additional advice or tactics. (If you would like the manager to consider something give feedback following the match.)

Never ridicule or scold a child for making a mistake during a competition and be sensitive to the less talented players.

Remember the main objective is for the players and team to develop their individual and team skills and appreciation of the game

Encourage the players always to play by the rules and respect their opponents and officials.

Condemn the use of violence and verbal abuse.

Do not harass or swear at players, coaches, umpires or otherofficials

Do not question publicly the officials judgement and never their honesty

Set an example by being friendly to the parents/guardians and officials of the opposition. Applaud good play by your own team and the opposing team.

Show respect for opponents, without them there would be no game.

Relax and enjoy the game whether your team wins or not.
